We were successfully funded on kickstarter.
We passed our goal by 685 dollars. All the support has been incredible and I am really thankful to everyone who has taken interest in this project.
The Importance of Diversity:
I was reading an article about diversity in television today. It was trying to illuminate how television networks work with the verisimilitude of diversity rather than display a true diverse cast. The article spoke of how diversity on television is now a multi-color display of post-racial America rather than a true embodiment of the racially charged world that we still live in.
Modern television,...
The Importance of These Quiet Worlds:
I own a large collection of comic books. They sit in their sleeves and are organized by title names. I have collections of Aquaman to Buffy and everything in between. I love the characters, stories, plots and the machinations of comic books, but there is one thing that I don’t run into very often. There are few to no gay comic book heroes.
This is a close issue for me as a gay person. I...

Chapter 0: Strange New Worlds
The Photographic World: Dorian wakes up after a bewildering dream. All of his friends have left for college and summer break, while he awaits his own departure. He spends his last day, before driving off to California, contemplating what it’s like to have five years of your life taken away by anti-psychotics. He has less than 24 hours to go and he takes his final pill. Who do you become...
I'll be doing some more location scouting today.
I’ll be in the wonderful hills of Del Mar, California. Be ready for some moody landscapes.
Why is having a gay superhero important?
When people are young they find people to identify themselves with. You read a book and find that you have something in common with whomever it is and root for them. You aspire to be like them. You see Superman and say, “I wish I were him. He is strong and vulnerable and I could be him.”
I idolized certain comic book heroes as I’ve grown up. I have found myself in love with Jean...

Favorite part about writing a Comic Book?
World building. I absolutely love creating places that haven’t existed before.
Thank you all.
It feels wonderful to have the support of the gay community on this project. I think that it’s important to back independent gay projects across the board to show that there is room in our society for projects like this. So, I am here for all of you and hope that you can find some refuge in my comic, “These Quiet Worlds.”

It's not easy being completely independent as a...
I decided early on when I first started writing TQW that I wanted to do this on my own. I didn’t want someone to change the artistic direction of the story or the idea that had been manifesting itself in my mind for so long. A lot of gay comic books go with an independent publisher, but with that comes certain stigmas and expectations that I didn’t want to taint my graphic novel. I...

The illustrator for These Quiet Worlds sent me a text today, telling me he was laughing at the descriptions of the characters’ wardrobes I gave him. Anybody that knows me understands how I have a very loose grasp on clothing. I am a t-shirt, jeans, and athletic shoe kind of guy, and very rarely does it get more complicated then that. I am glad to have people on my team that have a better...

What makes a hero in These Quiet Worlds?
I have always been someone that searches for anything superhuman in every scenario. I’ll take a shower at the end of my day and mull over the events wondering how I could have taken part in those things if I was superhuman. I’ll lay down with my partner and look at him, hopelessly sending him thoughts in an effort to discover that we do have a penchant for telepathy. Sometimes, I feel...
